Star Wars is such a personal thing for me and a titanic monument of my childhood, and while I think things could have been handled better, I am pleased and my love for Star Wars has never been greater in my adulthood.

We went to the bar for a beer after the movie and just talked about how much we love Star Wars and our favorite moments - and I’m glad that the finale was able to do that for us. I myself am happy to say I enjoyed it and I’m glad my friends did too. But in the end, despite all the Reddit negativity, the people who actually go see it will decide for themselves whether or not they like it. A lot of the negativity spun from really wanting to hate it, the leaks sounding bad, and the mixed critical reviews.

I don't know where I'm going with this, but basically I'm trying to say that different fans like different things and we can't boil any part of this series down to "All Fans." This series is so large that you will never be able to please everyone fully. That's just a section that happens to voice their opinion not only the internet and not only on reddit, but on this subreddit or whatever other subreddits you notice these trends on. So yeah, it may seem like the sequels are hated and the prequels are loved, but that isn't taking all of the fan base into account. These sections all obviously enjoy Star Wars to a degree but they don't all agree on what parts they enjoy. Some only like the Jedi stuff, some only like the space battles, some like the western aspects, some like the WW2 allusions, some only care about characters, others like all of it all the same. Some fans like everything, some fans hate the prequels, some fans hate the sequels, some fans only like Episode IV and V. And there are tons of these fractions and some of them, despite technically being small, have enough people in them to give the appearance of them being a majority. And it's within its vastness that the cracks begin to show - some parts of the Fandom like some things and other don't. The series is loved by millions of people (if not a billion by now.) It is beyond the American lexicon, it has become a world-wide phenomenon. The problem is that it is so far reaching. Like they’re scared to kill them off any other way. It feels like it’s becoming a crutch to explain a death. But I must say that all this “I exerted myself too much in the force and now I must fadeaway” is getting a little on my nerves already. Also, they nailed the Sith “home world?” it looked grander in scale then I thought in my mind. I liked it more then I thought I would and that’s coming from a Kylo all the way person. I kept on thinking, did everyone else in here read the leaks first as well lol My take away that truly “surprised me” is Kylo’s turn to Ben. For me I guess the negativity was too fresh in my mind going in and I’m probably gonna have to see it again (and again) to really enjoy it. And I’m seeing that as a general consensus so far.
It felt like we got to act 3 in like 30mim. I think they did execute a lot of the stuff they were going for with emotion and acting wise but it was just rushed, rushed, rushed. You can read a leak and you can read a script but until you see it executed on screen that’s a whole different ball game. My dad even said afterwards I was the only one he heard clapping at times. I seriously looked around to see if people were asleep or maybe dead. My theater was the GTX room so it was huge and sold out but yet quiet as a mouse.
